OUR GAINS: FROM NATIONAL TO GLOBAL
The year 2016 was full of possibilities with the adoption of three major international agreements; the Sunset Review of R.A. 10121; and a new President leading the country. With these developments, the network strategized on how it can help ensure that DRRM will be the government’s priority. Through its efforts, the R.A. 10121 Amendatory Bill was identified as a priority by the Office of the President as stated by the Office of Civil Defense. It was also included in the legislative agenda of the Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022.
The network has also helped shaped regional and international agreements on DRRM through its active participation during the run up and actual conduct of the World Humanitarian Summit and 7th Asian Ministerial Conference on DRR. In collaboration with other CSOs, it has helped ensure that marginalized and vulnerable sectors have a key role in DRRM planning and implementation.
